Dental Fillings in Abilene, TX

Cavities can be detected forming in or on the impacted teeth when dental decay develops in a patient's mouth. Moreover, cavities are the most obvious sign of a tooth that is weak or deteriorating. When a cavity forms during a routine dental checkup, our dentist at Sam Spence D.D.S. removes all of the decay and provides a dental filling treatment to ensure the general health of the afflicted tooth or teeth. Patients in Abilene, TX, and the surrounding areas can save years of restorative dental care by having a cavity removed followed by a dental filling.

Dental Fillings

Types Of Dental Fillings

Once the cavity is removed, different procedures are employed to fill the tooth. Patients had no choice but to have gold or amalgam (silver) tooth fillings in the past. As dental technology has progressed, patients can now choose from a variety of more visually acceptable choices. Here at Sam Spence D.D.S, we want to make sure that our patients' teeth are not only healthy but also look better than they have in the past. That is why our dentist offers a selection of practically invisible dental fillings that match the color of the tooth wherein the cavity was eliminated.

What Is The Need For Dental Fillings?

When tooth decay is identified, it is critical to remove the decay and fill it to avoid potentially deadly bacteria from infecting exposed regions of the tooth. A cavity can be removed and treated if detected early enough, allowing the tooth to resume normal function. If a cavity is left untreated for an extended period of time, it will eat away at the inner layers of the tooth, causing pain for the patient and eventually necessitating more severe oral surgery to prevent further damage.

Cavities that have been allowed to develop for a long time will eventually reach the pulp of the tooth and, ultimately, the root, resulting in a fracture or full destruction of the tooth. In these situations, the best-case scenario is for the patient to receive a Root Canal Treatment (RCT) along with a crown insertion service. In more extreme circumstances, the patient may need to have all of his or her teeth extracted before undergoing implant surgery.

What Is The Need For Dental Fillings?

Our dentist at Sam Spence D.D.S constantly lays emphasis on the importance of routine dental hygiene and regular check-ups for all of our patients. Cavities are simple to treat if found early enough; however, if left untreated, they can cause problems that are beyond the scope of standard dental filling services. Our primary purpose is to ensure the oral and total health of every patient who seeks our assistance, which is why our team of dental professionals is always expanding their knowledge and employing the highest-quality medical equipment available. Dr. Spence and his staff are so kind and knowledgeable. He is conservative with care and does not rush into decisions but gives the kids time for growth and allows the body to do what it can before becoming invasive with procedures. 4/5 due to lack of online payment system. We've used his office for 19 years for our entire family. He is great with the kids too. He has a great laugh and I totally trust him with my family!

I have been going to Dr. Spence since I was a young kid and I could honestly say that he is such an awesome dentist. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my teeth. He is so vibrant and kind and the rest of his staff is just as amazing. If you’re looking for a new dentist I would 110% recommend Dr. Spence. If you’re looking to get your teeth cleaned, which I recently did, the dental hygienist is literally such a sweet person and your teeth will never look or feel cleaner!
